Mythological Creatures Mug
Mimbreños (Mimbres): The Mimbres culture was relatively isolated in southwestern New Mexico with areas of influence that extended to eastern Arizona, northwestern Texas and slightly into present day Mexico. It reached its zenith about C.E. 1050 in the Mimbres and Gila river valleys located ~25 miles east and west of Silver City, New Mexico. The Gila (pronounced "Hee-lah") Cliff Dwellings National Monument is a well-visited remnant of this culture. Many "crypto" animals have been found on pottery created by these ancient ones who disappeared around 800 years ago. Several of these depictions appear on this mug.
